I know that therapy is an expense. The rates per session often create sticker shock, especially in people who are new to therapy. My rates are typical for someone with my level of training, experience, and skill. If my rate is inaccessible, I’m happy to provide you with referrals to therapists who work on a sliding scale.
Therapy is an investment in your mental, emotional, and relational health. Research shows that having healthy, satisfying relationships is a major protective factor for your overall physical health and longevity.
I have some limited availability for sliding scale.
| 50 min family or couples session (the typical session) | $280 |
| 80 min family or couples session (if we need extra time) | $375 |
| 50 min individual session | $280 |
How long will family therapy take?
Once we meet for our consultation, I can give you a sense of how many sessions I think it will take for you to see improvements (this is called a Good Faith Estimate). Typically, when I work with families or couples to improve communication or repair their connection, it takes about 2-6 months to feel the changes. In cases where there’s been significant conflict, a contentious separation, or a trauma history, the work of family therapy takes longer.
In short: I have some families I see for 2 months, and they’re happy and excited with the changes. I have other families I work with for 2 years because the changes need more time. Once you schedule your free consultation, I can give you an estimate of the timeline in your particular case.
Do you take insurance?
For family or couples therapy, I am an out-of-network provider with insurance. After you pay for the session, I can provide you with a billing statement (superbill), which you’ll submit to your insurance company for direct reimbursement of some portion of the fee. Feel free to contact your insurance provider to verify what percentage they reimburse for out-of-network family therapy. This works well for many clients who use out-of-network benefits.
